Candace Fuchs | Board of Finance
|
Education BS, Tufts University What inspired you to run for local office? I am running for board of Finance because I have been an alternate on Board of Finance for two years, and I am seeking a full seat. A budget is an expression of the town's priorities, and I find this work interesting, challenging and important. I would like a full voting seat at the table now that I have spent two years learning the ropes. |

Bio and Qualifications
I worked in the pharmaceutical industry for companies large (Bayer, Pfizer) and small for 30 years as a project manager. Professionally, I have managed multi-million dollar budgets, submitted requests for proposals (RFPs) and reviewed contracts. In the non-profit sector, I have successfully overseen finances for the Valley Shore YMCA and Old Lyme Rowing Association; both fiscally healthy organizations. I know what responsible, systematic money management looks like. Why should someone vote for you?
I have experience on the Board of Finance. I have a deep history of community involvement in several organizations on the shoreline. Wherever I work, I show commitment, especially commitment to serving children and the elderly. I care deeply about Old Lyme, and I believe the future lies in a community that is welcoming to a racially and economically diverse population. What’s your favorite place in Old Lyme?
My favorite place is Rogers Lake - rowing around the lake....fast. I love to row and swim and the lake is the perfect place. I also just enjoy the outdoors - biking, gardening, rowing and swimming especially. What is something not many people know about you? I am a two-time cancer survivor and my favorite sculling partner is my husbands former girlfriend! What is your favorite book right now? Abundance by Ezra Klein and Derek Thompson |
