Keep Mickle on Old Lyme ZBA
October 16, 2023 by Stephanie Mickle

To The Editor:
Re-elect Stephanie Mickle to the Old Lyme Zoning Board of Appeals. I am a 39-year resident
who wants to give back to our wonderful town. As an experienced ZBA member for the past six
years, I understand the importance of balancing the need to provide relief to property owners
who demonstrate a legal hardship with the need to protect the greater good of the community.
I have contributed to new resources such as the “Residential Variance Application Guide” and
updated ZBA procedures. I continue to educate myself about CT land use law and procedures.
As a retired high school science teacher and previous social services worker, I bring competence,
organizational skills, inquisitiveness and a sense of fairness to my role on the ZBA.

My other volunteer activities include serving on the Old Lyme Land Trust as a land steward and
an education committee member. Previously I served on Lyme-Old Lyme High School’s safe
graduation committee, and helped as a rape crisis and battered women’s counselor, church school
teacher and East Lyme High School's planetarium director.

I respectfully ask for your vote on Nov. 7.
Stephanie Mickle
